Mt. Vernon Unitarian Universalist Fellowship (MTVUUF) is a small, lay-led congregation. We are a member of the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) and an LGBTQ Welcoming Congregation. As we are lay-led, each week’s service is different.
Mt. Vernon UUF holds IN-PERSON services on Sunday at 10:00 a.m. at 1600 Isabella Ave, Mt. Vernon IL 62864. A ZOOM only service is held on the LAST SUNDAY of each month. (For Zoom log-in information, email: information@mtvernonuuf.org

Our Mission and Vision
Since our founding in 2005, MTVUUF has focused on “Embracing Diversity, Welcoming Everyone.”
We, the members of this fellowship, agree to affirm and promote the seven principles of the Unitarian Universalist Association, and to strive to enable spiritual, intellectual, ethical, and emotional growth for all ages, work for compassionate justice, and respect the interdependence of all existence.”

- The inherent worth and dignity of every person;
- Justice, equity and compassion in human relations;
- Acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth in our congregations;
- A free and responsible search for truth and meaning;
- The right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and in society at large;
- The goal of world community with peace, liberty, and justice for all;
- Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.

Who We Are
Located in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, members and friends of MTVUUF come from Mt. Vernon and other communities in Jefferson, Marion, Franklin, Wayne and other surrounding counties. We are a Fellowship of open-minded people of Southern Illinois who embrace the seven principles and the shared values of the UUA. Most of us were not born into the UU faith but come to the Fellowship with diverse faith history, identity, professions, and spirituality.
We are a Welcoming Congregation, which welcomes diversity of race, sexual orientation, age, abilities, culture, religious backgrounds, and beliefs into our beloved community.
In 2010, after completing UUA requirements, the MTVUUF congregation accepted the designation of an LGBTQ WELCOMING CONGREGATION. We welcome all into our beloved community regardless of race, sexual orientation or gender identity, age, abilities, culture, religious background, and beliefs.
