January 2024 Sunday Services

On Monday, January 1, 2024 please join us for the annual potluck meal to welcome the new year,New Year's Potluck announcement at noon in the Fellowship basement. We can acknowledge the annual Hour of Peace as a fellowship.

On Sunday January 7, 2024 at 10:00 a.m., Gail DeVilbiss will lead the first in-person service of the new year focusing on the New Year and what a fresh start can mean to you. You have control over what you carry into the new year. Just as important, you can decide what you want to leave behind.

The annual Mt Vernon UU Fellowships Burning Bowl /Fire Communion Ceremony allows you to let go of what no longer serves you and make space for new beginnings. With this release, you will enter the realm of possibility and become ready to experience your unlimited good. Everyone is welcome to participate, you do not need to be a member of the Fellowship to experience this annual service. Start the New Year off ‘right’ by attending this meaningful service.  Please join us downstairs after the service for coffee and conversation.

On Sunday January 14, 2024 at 10:00 a.m., Gail and Mike DeVilbiss will lead this in-person service on “Generosity.”  A Generous heart limits conflict and encourages peace. Explore how daily giving can change your life and transform the world.     Please join us downstairs after the service for coffee and conversation.

On Sunday January 21, 2024 at 10:00 a.m., Roberta Price will lead this in-person Open Reading service for Martin Luther King Day. You are invited to bring poetry, a reading, or music to share during the service on topics related to MLK Day, or a topic of your choice. As we believe there is no one right way to lead a religious or spiritual life and we value each individual’s spiritual journey, Open Readings services have helped us learn about each other’s paths. These can be some of our most special services, and so intriguing how one reading can lead right into the next reading, though it was not planned. Please join us downstairs after the service for coffee and conversation.

On Sunday January 28, 2024 at 10:00 a.m., Susan Trotter will lead this Open Reading Service on Zoom, on the topic of “Influential and Famous Unitarian Universalists.” Attendees are welcome to share who their favorite is, and why. Visitors are welcome. For Zoom information please email information@mtvernonuuf.org .    A virtual social hour follows the service.
