October 2023 Sunday Services

On Sunday October 1, 2023 at 10:00 a.m., Gail DeVilbiss will lead an in-person service on the importance of animals, both domestic and wild, in our lives. We will celebrate our animal companions and comfort those who have lost a special friend. Please feel free to bring your animal friends. We ask you to be prepared for accidents and to bring a blanket or sheet for your animal to rest on. As a group, we will bless these animals that are present or resting at home. Please join us downstairs after the service for coffee and conversation.

On  Sunday, October 8 at 10:00 a.m., Julie Quinn will lead this in-person service on “The Spiritual Season of Autumn.”  Please join us downstairs after the service for snacks, coffee and conversation.

On Sunday, October 15, at 10:00a.m., A volunteer will lead an in-person Open Reading service. You are invited to bring poetry or a reading or music to share during the service, on a theme of your choice. Open readings can be some of our most meaningful services, reflecting the diversity of our Fellowship.   Please join us downstairs following the service for coffee and conversation. The Board Meeting follows the Coffee Hour.

On Sunday, October 22, at 10:00a.m., Roberta Price will lead an in-person  service, on “Love is Like a Box of Chocolates.” She will be using material from the UUA.org Website that includes a program that refers to the emerging ritual of a chocolate communion. Roberta also invites people to bring open readings.    Please join us downstairs following the service for coffee and conversation.

On Sunday, October 29, at 10:00 a.m., Luke Crawford will lead a service for the season of Halloween, All Souls Day, Día de Los Muertos on Zoom with music, a sermon, plus Open readings from the Fellowship–a semi-Open Readings Service. Open readings can be some of our most meaningful services, reflecting the diversity of our Fellowship. Visitors are welcome. For Zoom information please email information@mtvernonuuf.org .
