June 2023 Sunday Services

Visitors are welcome to join us, in person at 1600 Isabella, Mt Vernon, for in-person services the first three weeks of the month, and also visitors are welcome on the last Sunday on Zoom.  To request the Zoom login link, please email information@mtvernonuuf.org  Please let us know if you’d like to be added to our monthly email list.

On Sunday June 4, 2023 at 10:00 a.m., please join us in-person for a service led by Gail DeVilbiss on the topic of Water Social Justice.   A coffee hour follows the service. Visitors are welcome.

On Sunday June 11, 2023 at 10:00 a.m., please join us in-person for the 100 Year Anniversary of the Flower Communion. Gail DeVilbiss and others will lead this Flower Communion service, a favorite ceremony in the Unitarian Universalist tradition and a statement of community. Please bring a flower to the Sunday service, or take one from the vase provided. Each person places his or her flower in a shared vase. At the end of the service, each person takes home a flower other than the one that he or she brought, signifying that, as no two flowers are alike, so no two people are alike, yet each makes a unique contribution. Please join us for snacks, coffee and conversation after the service.

On Sunday, June 18 at 10:00a.m., Glenn Moreton will lead this in-person Open Readings service. You are invited to bring poetry, a reading, or music to share during the service on the topics of Father’s Day, Juneteenth, or a topic of your choice. As we believe there is no one right way to lead a religious or spiritual life and we value each individual’s spiritual journey, Open Readings services help us learn about each other’s paths, and can be some of our most special services. Please join us at 1600 Isabella Avenue in Mt Vernon as we gather in fellowship.  Visitors are welcome to join us downstairs after the service for snacks, coffee, and conversation. The Board Meeting will follow the  social hour.

On Sunday, June 25, at 10:00 a.m., Glenn Moreton will lead this service on “Nourishing Happiness,” on Zoom.  He will present tools suggested by Thich Nhan Hanh’s book “No Mud, No Lotus.” In addition, he suggests this United Nations bibliography for further information: https://hr.un.org/page/nurturing-happiness-and-positivity .Visitors are welcome. For Zoom information please email information@mtvernonuuf.org . A virtual social hour follows the service.

Please check back through the month for updates. Please join us after Sunday services for coffee and conversation.
