February 2023 Sunday Services

Visitors are welcome to join us, in person at 1600 Isabella, Mt Vernon, for in-person services the first three weeks of the month, and also visitors are welcome on the last Sunday on Zoom.  To request the Zoom login link, please email information@mtvernonuuf.org  Please let us know if you’d like to be added to our monthly email list.   The Board will continue to assess the masking and in-person vs Zoom situation each month,  In keeping with our caring principles, masks are encouraged for in-person services.

Souper Bowl Food DonationsOn Sunday February 5, 2023 at 10:00 a.m., please join us in-person for an Open Readings service on the theme of Black History Month,  led by Gail and Mike DeVilbiss.  A coffee hour follows the service.

On  Sunday, February 12, at 10:00 a.m., please join us for this in-person Souper Bowl service, ‘The New Face of Hunger,’ which  will explore local food insecurity compared with national figures, stories of the new faces of hungry Americans, and perspectives from working with pantries and food distribution. We will share the message that food is a human right issue not a privilegeFollowing the service, we will enjoy a soup potluck meal. We will collect non-perishable food from 1/1/23 to 2/19/23.  Everyone is welcome.

On Sunday, February 19, at 10:00a.m., Mike DeVilbiss will lead this Discussion Service. We will select a discussion topic at random from a collection of ethical issues, after which Mike DeVilbiss will lead a discussion in which everyone is invited to participate.  Please join us at 1600 Isabella Avenue in Mt Vernon as we gather in fellowship.  Visitors are welcome to join us downstairs after the service for snacks, coffee, and conversation. The Board Meeting will follow the  social hour.

On Sunday, February 26, at 10:00 a.m., Roberta Price will lead this Open Reading service on Zoom. You are invited to bring poetry, a reading, or music to share during the service. If you have music to share, please email music links or files to uufmtvsec@gmail.com . As we believe there is no one right way to lead a religious or spiritual life and we value each individual’s spiritual journey, Open Readings services help us learn about each other’s paths, and can be some of our most special services. Visitors are welcome. Mt. Vernon Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, at 1600 Isabella Ave. in Mt. Vernon, embraces diversity and liberal religious thought.   Lay-led services are held at 10:00 a.m. every Sunday; the service is followed by a social hour.  Everyone is welcome to this gathering of community which seeks peace and justice for all persons.
