On Sunday January 12, 2024 at 10:00 a.m., CANCELLED DUE TO ICE AND SNOW ON THE STEPS AND PARKING AREA. Gail DeVilbiss will lead this in-person Fire Ceremony service, postponed from last week, focusing on the New Year and what a fresh start can mean to you. You have control over what you carry into the new year. Just as important, you can decide what you want to leave behind. The annual Burning Bowl/Fire Communion Ceremony allows you to let go of what no long serves you and to make space for new beginnings. Please join us after the service for coffee and conversation.
Thank you to everyone for warming little feet, heads and hands!! And just in time for the extremely cold weather expected this January. The Mitten, Hat and Sock collection for K-3 students at Mt. Vernon Primary Center reaped 28 pair socks, 4 pair girls tights, 31 stocking caps, 5 boys caps with ear flaps, 4 pair mittens, 111 pair gloves. Fantastic giving! Thank you to everyone who donated to keep students warm and to Diane Schwitz for coordinating and delivering the donations.
On Sunday January 19, 2024 at 10:00 a.m., Roberta Price will lead this Open Reading service. The service will be on Zoom due to ice and weather.. You are invited to bring poems, short articles, or music to share with the congregation. Open readings can be some of our most meaningful services, reflecting the diversity of our Fellowship. Visitors are welcome. To request the Zoom link please email information@mtvernonuuf.org. Please join us for a virtual coffee hour after the service. The Board Meeting follows the social hour.
On January 26, 2024 at 10:00 a.m., Luke Crawford will lead this service on Zoom. Join us this Sunday as we delve into the provocative question of free will, inspired by modern philosophers Sam Harris and Yuval Noah Harari. We’ll explore scientific and philosophical challenges to traditional notions of choice and follow a brief sermon with a discussion about morality, technology, and the future. All are welcome. For Zoom information please email information@mtvernonuuf.org . A virtual social hour follows the service.
