August 2024 Sunday Services

During the summer, please save water from your travels to share in the Water Communion service on September 8.

On Sunday August 4, 2024 at 10:00 a.m., Gail DeVilbiss will lead this  in-person service, focusing on the pros and cons of living in the comfort zone. The “Comfort zone” is defined as follows: “The comfort zone is a behavioral state within which a person operates in an anxiety-neutral condition, using a limited set of behaviors to deliver a steady level of performance, usually without a sense of risk.” Discover that when occasionally leaving your comfort zone, you receive many benefits including personal growth.  Please join us after the service for coffee and conversation.

On Sunday August 11, 2024 at 10:00 a.m., Glenn Moreton will lead this in-person service based on excerpts from the book How to Know a Person, by writer and news commentator, David Brooks. In the book jacket, the text explains: “There is one skill that lies at the heart of any healthy person, family, school, community organization or society: the ability to see someone else deeply and make them feel seen—to accurately know another person to let them feel valued, heard, and understood. And yet we humans don’t do this well. All around us are people who feel invisible, unseen, misunderstood…Brooks sets out to help us do better.” In the program Glenn will share some of the observations and tips that the book offers. Please join us after the service for coffee and conversation.
