February 2024 Sunday Services

Canned food collection will be during February. Cash donations are also accepted for local food pantry.

On Sunday February 4, 2024 at 10:00 a.m., Gail DeVilbiss will lead this in-person Social Justice service, investigating lawyer Bryan Stevenson’s career. Stevenson had dedicated his life’s work helping free wrongly convicted people, mostly men of color. Learn his story, motivation, and his incredible perseverance. As a community we will explore how so many folks can become wrongfully convicted and what changes need to take place in the justice system to correct these wrongs. Social Justice issues are at the top of the list of concerns for Unitarian Universalists to learn and take action when deemed necessary. This service will be moving for all who attend. Please join us for coffee, snacks and conversation after the service.

On Sunday February 11, 2024 at 10:00 a.m., Gail  DeVilbiss, Roberta Price and Theresa Rowe  will lead this in-person Souper Bowl of Caring service  Please join us downstairs after the service for a soup potluck, coffee and conversation. Bring soup or a dish to accompany soup

On Sunday February 18, 2024 at 10:00 a.m., a volunteer is needed to lead this in-person Open Reading service for Black History Month. You are invited to bring poetry, a reading, or music to share during the service on topics related to Black History Month, or a topic of your choice. As we believe there is no one right way to lead a religious or spiritual life and we value each individual’s spiritual journey, Open Readings services have helped us learn about each other’s paths. These can be some of our most special services, and so intriguing how one reading can lead right into the next reading, though it was not planned. Please join us downstairs after the service for coffee and conversation.

On Sunday February 25, 2024 at 10:00 a.m., Yvonne Martin will lead this Service on Zoom, on the topic of tbd.  Visitors are welcome. For Zoom information please email information@mtvernonuuf.org .    A virtual social hour follows the service.
